This is an exciting opportunity to make your first steps in the dynamic Data Center industry as an IT Apprentice in our Hemel Hempstead location.
During your apprenticeship you will work with our IT team, alongside experienced IT engineers to gain hands on experience and knowledge of IT best practice in a data center environment, focused on implementing and maintaining IT systems.
While becoming an IT Support expert through on-the-job learning as well as block release, you will have the possibility to work with the various departments in our organization to acquire an all-round view of our business.

Your responsibilities
Assist the IT Manager and their team in the performance of various activities related to IT Support. These can be either fault identification, first level support, repair and analysis as well as administrative tasks and project preparation
You will support with the roll-out of installation and commissioning of new systems or upgrades under supervision and guidance. This also includes preparing work areas to undertake work related activities
You will develop knowledge and understanding of key concepts of IT infrastructure and support
You will participate in the hotline and ensure the availability of the hotline.
You will perform and manage installation, preparation and handover of devices (PCs, smartphones)
You will read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation as well as communicate, handover and confirm that the appropriate IT process has been completed to specification
Your profile
Interest in the data center environment, and specifically IT and network
Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team, as well as working independently
Enthusiastic, eager to learn, pro-active, determined and flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment and demand from the client or supervisor
Ability to manage your time and prioritize day-to-day tasks
Keen to analyze problems and think of possible solutions using logic and reasoning
Computer literacy, comfortable with MS Office 365
Flexibility to travel to other locations as required at short notice
A minimum of 5 GCSEs or Level 2 Apprenticeship equivalent (apprenticeship or BTEC in a relatable subject)
English and Maths (Grade 4 or above) is desired, as well as STEM subjects
Undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019
About the Apprenticeship Program
Course: Information Communication Technician (Ref: ST0973)
You will be enrolled at Firebrand and will be at their training facility
This role will have online learning as well as block release to the training provider’s facility (Firebrand)
Apprenticeship level: 3
Expected duration: 16 months
Start date: 1 September 2023
